Judy Yu is the owner and manager of Carsac Limited, one of Hong Kong’s primary distributors of luxury lifestyle consumer items. With offerings ranging from coveted handbags and travel accessories to designer home ware products and fine foods, the company expanded interest into fine dining, creating Yugamama – Hong Kong’s first Western and Asian themed restaurant.
In 1981, Yu accepted an offer from Lanvin HK Ltd., a French Japanese joint venture. The company, which would later form into Carsac Limited in 1982, appointed her as General Manager. During that time, Carsac Limited represented and distributed famous brands such as Lanvin, Aigner, Daks, Basile, Fratelli Rosetti, Prima Classe, Mandarina Duck, Tanino Crisci, Gianmaria Buccellati, LeSportsac and others. After ten years with the company, Yu was invited to join the Board of Directors. In 1998, Yu acquired full ownership of Carsac, and was conferred Jessica Magazine’s 2002 “Most Successful Women” in recognition of her accomplishments.
Expanding on her interest and expertise, Yu later entered into the health food distribution market. Unhampered in her search for fine foods, Yu has traveled the world venturing into famous supermarkets, hotels, and restaurants to negotiate distribution rights and prospects. This has opened up a selection of fine food opportunities, adding to her portfolio ventures that include development of household products and restaurants.
In 2008, Yu became the Council Member of The Better Hong Kong Foundation, a non-profit and politically-neutral affiliation formed by influential Hong Kong business and community leaders, aimed at assisting in the long-term development of Hong Kong.
In 2009, Jean Pierre Thébault, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macao, bestowed upon Yu the "Ordre National du Mérite". This distinction aims at recognizing her dedication and her fidelity to France.
