Kazuyoshi Minamimagoe was born in 1962 in Japan. He joined BEAMS in 1984, initially as sales staff at a men’s casual clothing shop, then started his career in women’s fashion when he became Shop Manager at Ray BEAMS Shibuya.
After serving as Buyer for Ray BEAMS from 1989, he was appointed Creative Director of the company’s entire women’s section in 2004. In March 2010, Minamimagoe was named Senior Creative Director, assigned with launching the BEAMS Institute of Creation, a newly established business development team.
Widely recognized by the fashion industry, Minamimagoe has developed a successful career out of discovering fresh designers and brands from around the world. The ANDAM Fashion Award (France) is one of the many fashion awards that Minamimagoe has judged for. Currently an advisory member of the Japan Fashion Week, he is often invited as a panelist at various seminars and events, whilst his comments are often cited by industry media.
