Masaaki Sakai first joined Canon Inc. in 1970. In tune with Canon’s diversification, he is presently in charge of designs in the “electronics” field.
In the 1990s, Sakai advocated the unification of design activities that were spread out between business departments and began serving as the Senior General Manager of the new companywide Design Center in 1994, a position he continues to hold.
Currently, Sakai, while managing product designs for the entire Canon Group, promotes product-pitch events originating from cutting-edge designs as well as activities to bolster corporate design and brand images.
